I’m Rafał Muskała—film producer, journalist, and documentary filmmaker.
My journey started many years ago when I packed up my life and moved to Chicago.
Back then, I was just a guy with big dreams and an even bigger suitcase.
Diving headfirst into the world of film, and broadcasting, I worked on two documentaries about the history of American Polonia.
But I wasn’t always behind the camera.
For a while, I was behind a microphone. In the radio I learned the power of connecting with a community through stories
(also, I learned how to survive on way too much coffee.)
Fast-forward to 2018, I traded the skyscrapers of Chicago for the quiet charm of Białystok, Poland. I set up my own filmmaking and advertising company.
Living in Podlasie, one of the most beautiful regions in Poland, has been a blessing. It’s a place where you can breathe, think, and—most importantly—focus on what matters.
Here, I’ve been lucky enough to combine my passion for storytelling with promoting local culture and businesses. Whether it’s filming a heartfelt documentary or creating a campaign that puts a smile on someone’s face, I’ve always tried to make my work meaningful.
How all of this got me into OFFLINE LENS?
Well, over the years, I’ve noticed something: we’re all glued to our screens. Phones, laptops, TVs—they’re everywhere.
And honestly? It’s exhausting.
That’s why I started OFFLINE LENS.
It’s my little corner of the internet where I talk about unplugging and living more intentionally. (Yes, I know – this is the irony of writing about being offline while being online).
The idea came from my own experiences. As a filmmaker, I’ve spent so much time looking at the world through a lens, trying to capture the beauty of real, unfiltered moments. But somewhere along the way, I realized we’re all missing those moments because we’re too busy scrolling through social media or refreshing our inboxes for the 50th time.
Here, I want to change that.
